The customer is an online Poker gaming platform with innovative features allowing users to play via a web app as well as iOS & Android apps.
The Challenge
The customer was looking for a new vendor to take over the current tech platform and deliver new features quickly. The tech-stack was niche and domain peculiar. Card games involved complex business rules and had bots that run Monte Carlo simulations to play against human players.
Completing the transition at a fast pace and meeting the deadline for a critical beta launch was crucial for the customer to ensure product gets right investments and can get closer to monetization.

Our Approach
Cracking the Tech
Finding skilled engineers in niche technologies like Erlang, Elixir & Three.js was challenging due to tight timelines. We assembled a team of experienced engineers who quickly learned these skills during the transition. Our immersive and collaborative approach captured valuable knowledge from previous maintainers.
Transition Gameplan
Transition involved partnering with previous maintainers, documenting system details, conducting retrospectives, addressing technical debt, and collaborating with experts to understand the product roadmap. This ensured a smooth and accelerated transition, and the team was soon working independently on critical features.
Engineering Foundation
The team analyzed the accrued technical debt and created a roadmap for scaling the product. Our team followed Extreme Programming best practices, including Test-Driven Development, iterative development, simple design, feedback loops, and DevOps.
Mission Successful
As a result of our efforts, the product has had its "most successful marquee event yet" and is now well positioned to open its premium "member only" offering to its customers for a more engaging poker experience.
